From 1972 to 1999, Dave and Al Sealey were Cosmotheka. For many years the undisputed kings of cockney song, their fans included Chas & Dave, Bob Munkhouse and Roy Hudd.
However, the original Cosmotheka faded with the death of Al Sealey in 1999. Now surviving member Dave Sealey has rebooted the band alongside his son Dan (bass player in Britpop legends Ocean Colour Scene) and will be treating us to recreate the old songs with a new twist. It’s going to be a great evening of cockney song, music hall and a few surprises along the way.
You can get a flavour of the evening from the video below….what a mouth, what a mouth, what a north and south…
The Cosmotheka gig is being put on by the lovely people at Walthamstow Folk, as their contribution to the festival, and we are delighted to be featuring them again. The gig is at 8pm on Sunday 23rd September at Rose & Crown, and is £10 entry on the door, or £9 concessions. If you’re coming, let us know on the Facebook event page!
