Pull shapes on the dance floor at Walthamstow’s established Northern Soul and Motown night. Back at the festival by popular demand! The night features an appearance from a guest DJ, Southend’s Chad Fredricks.
We spoke to Dave Duplock from Walls of Heartache about what to expect from the night:
People can expect a warm friendly atmosphere in a small club, full of dancing where people of any age can relax and have a good time. Musically it will be a mix of well known and rare Northern Soul and Motown tunes solely on vinyl, spanning the mid 60’s and early 70’s, predominately Amercian with some British tunes.
It is a pleasure to be involved again, as on a personal basis Walthamstow is a great place to live, with loads of great music happening at great venues that deserves to be highlighted.
For the club last year was a great oppertunity to introduce our music to a new and younger audience, especially as to some it can be considered a bit of a ‘closed shop’. All new faces who came last year seemed to enjoy themslves and quite a few have been back over the last year.
The club generally runs on the last Saturday of every month, although we usually take a break in december and during the summer months – next two dates are the 27th October and 24th November.
You can keep up to date with the club on their Facebook page. Walls of Heartache is on Saturday 22 September at Arubar, from 9pm til 2am. Entry is £5 on the door. They might even have some CDs to give away if you’re lucky!
Here’s a tune to get you in the mood – ‘Cashing In’ by The Voices of East Harlem.
