Interview: Belter

Belter are coming to E17 to punk it up at the Waltham Forest Social Club on Stow Festival Friday. We grabbed a chat with Gary Bennett from the band to hear what to expect from their show.

Hey Gary, how would you describe the sound of Belter?

Punk spirited rock laced with melodies that stick in your head, lyrics that amuse and provoke, all tied up in a rhythm that hits you right where you want it to.

What can people expect from your Stow Festival performance?

40 plus minutes of rapid fire, two-and-a-half minute songs.

You had your first single, TV Junkie, earlier this year. What’s next for Belter after Stow Festival?

We are planning a short tour at the end of the year that will hopefully take us to the north and south of Britain, culminating in a London show at a rather splendid venue, which we are confirming details of now. In the meantime, we are working on producing an album and fine tuning our stage show. You can catch up with everything we’re up to on our Facebook page.

We are particularly looking forward to the Stow Festival show as we know that both bands will be pulling out all the stops to give the crowd something good to remember.

Belter play the Waltham Forest Social Club from 8pm on Friday 21 September with Steve White & The Protest Family. Entry to the gig is free.

Here’s the video to their 2012 single, ‘TV Junkie’.
